Raksha Bandhan, a cherished Indian festival, is a celebration of the bond between siblings. On this special day, sisters tie colorful threads called "rakhis" around the wrists of their brothers, symbolizing their prayers for their well-being, while brothers, in turn, pledge to safeguard their sisters throughout life's journey (and give them a little money.

The children celebrated Raksha Bandhan at Purple Martni in Anjuna today and spent the afternoon being served fantastic food, drink and presents by their wonderful staff.

We were contacted last week as the lovely people from Food Services Pvt ltd & K Hospitality had a food drive (for millet) and have managed to collect around 500kg of Millet Flour. This is fabulous and will be handed out to the families we help in the next few weeks. Another 80Kg will be arriving in the next day or two.

A couple of the students decided to get a little creative on two small clay pots left over from a desert we ate. I think they turned out really nice...

We were delighted to be contacted by GMR Hospitality Ltd (At Mopa Airport) who had done a collection of Ragi Millet. I wasn't sure what Ragi Millet was so I found out that it is Rich in protein, Rich in Calcium, Rich in Iron and Rich in Antioxidants. around 80 KG of Ragi Millet was donated.

Thank you to everyone from GMR Hospitality Ltd for the donation and all their help coordinating the pickup and to Acchelal and Papu who kindly picked up the grain on their bikes.

One of our students who we have been helping for the last 8 years is a very talented young man. Here is a pencil drawing he has just finished. As well as having a talent for art, he is also currently studying Physics at Master Degree level.

We had a very flavorsome Saturday, as we weren't expecting so many children to come we decided we treat those who were coming with Chicken Tikka Masala to add to the Vegetable Pulao we had already cooked.

It would be nice to have some Chicken Tikka from a restaurant to make a change, but before it arrived lots more children came!

Some of the kids wanted picking up from School and one from home, so while Robert was out he picked up lots of Chicken Biriyani to make sure there would be enough food for everyone.

In total everyone had some Chicken Biriyani, Chicken Tikka Masala, Cheese Garlic Naan, Vegetable Pulao along with some Raita. Yummy!
