Dental Checkup Camp at Goa Outreach Thank you to both dentists for their help over the weekend. We managed to checked the teeth of around 85 children in two days. Thank you to Lila and Yallama for organising all the children and of course the kids for saying 'Aaahhhh' for the Dentist!

Udyan Sagar, better known by his stage name Nucleya, is an Indian electronic music producer and a bit of a hero/star many of the older students. The first time we saw him the children were quite star struck and everyone wanted to have their phtoo taken with him. Thank you so much to Nucleya for being gracious enough to have his photo taken with the kids.

We have wrapped / stitched over 1000 presents this year and these were the last few that we gave out to a local Balwadi (Govt pre-primary school). The children are young and a little apprehensive towards new visitors, although they live close to the children we help so they have seen us on occasion.

We have previously given out clothes and other small items. The children all received a small parcel with around 10 small items, the items were extra donations that we had left over after Christmas, small plastic toys, balls, soft toys, stickers, tattoos, chocolates and hair bobbles for the girls and toy cars for the boys.

Thank you to the teacher and helper for their help and the parents who gathered around with even younger babies in their arms hoping for an extra gift.

Last year we stayed temporarily in Mardel near Tivim, and while there we visited the local government school with Christmas presents. They very kindly welcomed us and we thought it would be nice if we visited again this year. The school is small with around 30 children in total.

As we arrived the children remembered and got very excited to see us. As before we were welcomed in and all of the children came into one classroom and sat quietly. We explained we had a few gifts for them to take home and also some footballs that were to be kept at the school to be used during breaks.

The children were so well behaved and sat quietly as we handed out the gifts and lollipops, there were a few extra small items for the teachers; and finally gave out the footballs, one for the girls and one for the boys.

Thank you to the children, teachers and staff for their time and for inviting us for their Annual day.

We were delighted to be invited to a Lohri celebration this week, the children got dressed up and we headed out to experience the Punjabi celebration of Lohri... The ancient significance of the festival is both as a winter crop season celebration and a remembrance of the Sun deity (Surya). Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome, great food and the games and dancing which everyone enjoyed - Thank you so much!

Currently on the outskirts of Mapusa, there are quite a few road workers and their children. The adults are manually digging up road sides and widening the roads to develop the new highway and adjoining roads.

The families work all day in the hot sun and often their kids are nearby playing in the sand or playing simple games with small stones. We often have extra adult clothes so have spent several mornings taking trips out to give the workers a fresh pair of clothes and as it was just after Christmas we packaged up some extra gifts to give to the children as well as providing footballs to each worksite so the children could play in the surrounding fields.
