Corporate Social Responsibility) event for McCain Frozen Foods, Mapusa, Goa

Bicycles

Our children were delighted to receive bikes courtesy of a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) event for McCain Frozen Foods. We were invited the week prior and took a while to organise transportation to and from the event which took place at the beautiful ITC Grand hotel in south Goa about 40km from the centre.

Thankfully the organisers kindly offered to delivery of the cycles the day after so we only needed to sort out transport for the children.

The children were not knowing what to expect and were taken into a large hall with the lights turned off and as the lights came on they saw a big group of people with eight smart looking bikes. Each child was paired up with a bike and took a little 'spin' around the room. Everyone enjoyed!

A huge thank you to everyone from McCain foods and from the team who organised the event! - THANK YOU!!!

Rest In Peace Young Man
Rest In Peace Young Man

One of the children who Robert has helped since he was just a few years old has sadly passed away. He was diagnosed with SLE (Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), is the most common type of lupus. SLE is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks its own tissues, causing widespread inflammation and tissue damage in the affected organs. It can affect the joints, skin, brain, lungs, kidneys, and blood vessels. and there is no cure.

He spent his last days in the ICU in Goa Medical College. I wish I had words to lighten your agony, but sometimes words are just not enough.

Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss. You are in my thoughts.

Bike Accident, Mapusa, Goa

Bike Accident
Bike Accident

We had a shock as one of our younger students had a cycle accident less than 1 km away from his home (and the centre). He and a friend were on a cycle and he fell and banged his head.

An ambulance was called and took him to the local district hospital and due to the severity he was then taken to the main Bambolim Medical College and admitted into the head trauma ward.

We were told just after it had happened as his slightly older sister came to the centre on the way home.

The next day we found out that he had a fit and had been in a coma from night until the next morning.

His sister was very concerned and had her 10th standard exam the next day.

Robert and one of the children went to visit him in hospital but he was doing better, but still quite weak from the ordeal.

We are happy to say that he arrived home this morning and will spend the next few days/weeks resting while he recovers fully.

Please join in and wish him a speedy recovery.

We were contacted by a couple who wanted who were recently blessed with twins (one son and one daughter), to mark this special experience they wanted to give out Indian sweets to the children, they provided a huge bag of wonderfully packed Indian sweets made from condensed milk.

Each small gift bag had two scrumptious sweets, Robert took a trip round to the children's homes to give out the lovely treats. Here's just a few photos from the first day of giving. Thank you and congratulations to the lucky couple.

Oh... And good luck! ??
